What you will do

As a Data Scientist, you will apply advanced data analytics techniques to analyze various types of vehicle and test data and provide detailed insights to simulation and engineering teams. The position entails a high level of collaboration with engineering teams working on future products, analyzing different types of logged and/or measured data (high frequency and low frequency) from customer trucks, field trucks and test vehicles to help make data driven engineering decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Utilize advanced analytics and machine learning techniques on customer and test vehicle data to extract meaningful insights and provide actionable recommendations to engineering and simulation teams

Integrate data from multiple sources (Customer vehicles, test vehicles etc.) and automate data flow, ensuring data quality and consistency, to facilitate deployment of advanced analytics techniques within vehicle engineering

Create data visualizations and dashboards to translate technical and customer data to provide actionable insights to stakeholders

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product development, and IT, to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.

Collaborate with global teams on developing and improving analysis & simulation strategies based on actual customer data

Collaborate with engineering, testing and IT teams to drive development of AI/ML models to support and accelerate predictive modeling in engineering

Stay updated with the latest advancements in data science and automotive technologies to continuously improve usage of data analytics within vehicle engineering

Your future team

The Advanced Calculation Team is an important part of the Vehicle Engineering function for Volvo Group Trucks Technology, north America. Our team is a dynamic team of highly competent engineers who specialize in various CAE disciplines. We are responsible for ensuring functional requirements are met for durability & reliability, thermal management, cooling performance and other mechanical systems for heavy duty trucks developed for North America.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

1-3 years of experience in data analytics with automotive industry background. Heavy duty vehicle experience is considered a plus

Demonstrated experience with machine learning and advanced analytics for predictive modeling such as regression analysis, neural networks (Deep Learning, RNN, LSTM, DQN etc.), time series forecasting, classification, clustering etc.

Proficiency in statistical analysis methods and programming languages such as Python (including libraries like Numpy, SciPy, Pandas, Tensorflow), SQL, Git, Azure, Hadoop, Matlab/Simulink, pySpark

Experience with building dashboards and help create visualizations from data using PowerBI, QlikView, Tableau etc.

Familiarity with Database Management Systems (BDMS) and proficiency in querying and manipulating data using SQL

Experience with Git and version control methods is a plus
