Our law Firm is growing and we are looking for a sharp family attorney who will zealously represent our clients in all areas of family law. You’ll assist individuals in a variety of situations such as navigating prenuptial agreements and attending court hearings for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. The prime candidate will have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence, and be able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue effectively even in emotional and high-stress situations. If you are passionate about helping people navigate some of the most difficult challenges they may face in their lives, start your application today Responsibilities: • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed • Represent clients in court proceedings as needed • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action • Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current • Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgements, and orders for a high volume of cases • Develop a strategic approach and provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants • Manage full case-handling responsibilities from inception through resolution • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on issues relating to ongoing or potential cases • Draft and review initial pleadings, motions, briefs, and other pleadings • Appear in Court to represent clients • Prepare clients and cases for trial • Interact with clients and work with experts • Cultivate relationships with the firm's existing and future clients Qualifications: • Proven record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations • Licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia • Substantial experience at a Law firm working on Family Law (Divorce, Custody, Child Support, Modifications) for at least 10 years (required; this is non-negotiable) • At least 10 years of courtroom litigation experience (non-negotiable) • Excellent writing and oral communication skills • Proficiency in analyzing and summarizing complicated legal documents and suggesting alterations to those documents • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a TEAM • Extensive experience in courtroom litigation and trial advocacy including trial preparation and readiness • Ability to anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the law firm or for a client while developing strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas of risk • Experience in mentoring and overseeing junior associates work for needed guidance on issues and ensure work product is up to par
Preferred Qualifications:
• Estate Planning Compensation: $175,000 - $200,000

Preferred Qualifications:
