Our growing law firm is looking to hire a family attorney who is fiercely passionate about representing clients facing one of the most challenging times in their lives. Candidates should be adept at preparing necessary legal documents in connection with prenuptial agreements, initiating and finalizing divorces, alimony, child support/child custody, and real estate. Experience in handling legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence is also a must. Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience working in family law. Responsibilities: • Represent clients in court proceedings as needed • Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgements, and orders for a high volume of cases • Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed • Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current • Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for various cases. Qualifications: • Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations • 4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position • Extra consideration for those with a criminal justice background • Proven record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of MD (strong consideration for licensure in DC). • Prior experience representing clients in hearings, trials, and mediation required. • Persuasive writing skills and verbal communication skills are critical, along with management of support staff and interpersonal skills. • Great legal research skill is a must. Compensation: $125,000 - $150,000 DOE
