The Opportunity :The Subaward Specialist II position performs subaward sponsored programs functions associated with the review, negotiation, and execution of subaward agreements that involve advanced knowledge of University, sponsor, Federal regulations and policy, and the post-award non-financial administration and monitoring of subawards. The Subaward Specialist has delegated signature authority on behalf of the University for the execution of subaward agreements and other related subaward activities.Responsibilities:Serve as the point of contact for Colleges and Units in all subaward related matters as assigned by the Assistant Director.

Review, draft, negotiate, and execute subaward agreements as assigned in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures for outgoing subrecipients under sponsored programs grant and contract awards.

Collaborate on agreement reviews with other Office of Research components, other University units, and the Office of General Counsel. Incorporate edits as required to comply with applicable policies, regulations, and law. Conduct subaward negotiation with subrecipients and serve as primary liaison for the University.

Maintain contact with sponsors to facilitate follow through of subawards, and changes/corrections to subaward documents, as appropriate.

Ensure subaward agreement terms are appropriate for the University's status as a public institution of higher education; ensure subaward terms and conditions align with University policies, statutory requirements, and federal and state regulations, as applicable.

Conduct subaward process, ensuring consistency with prime award terms and conditions and university requirements; ensure that subawardees are qualified to receive University flow-through funds and that appropriate subaward monitoring measures are established for compliance with federal and University requirements.

Consult with the following UCF offices and staff regarding compliance approvals: Institutional Review Board; Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee; Environmental Health & Safety; Export Compliance; and Facility Security, as needed. May coordinate contract negotiations with UCF Research Foundation, as needed. Consult with Technology Transfer on intellectual property issues.

Advise investigators and college and department research administrators on University and Sponsor requirements; interpret and communicate procedural and policy changes affecting subawards; Assist in conducting training and demonstrations to investigators and their staff on pre- and post-award issues.

Provide optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of various federal, state sponsoring agencies and UCF systems.

Ensure records in university electronic systems used for review and processing are accurate and complete.

May participate and assist in the development and implementation of subaward policies and procedures in conjunction with senior leadership team to improve subaward services.

May lead and coordinate training, workshops, and demonstrations to faculty and their staff on subrecipient research administration topics to promote learning.

Responsibilities may include supervision and training of A&P, USPS, or OPS and student personnel.

Report to Assistant Director for Subawards and provides efficient and effective research administration.

Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Experience in contract management preferred.

Experience providing high-level customer service while operating in a busy environment.

Critical reading and writing skills.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.

Capacity to meet deadlines, prioritize, work under pressure, and to understand and respond to the needs of a wide range of divergent interests
