DoD SkillBridge - Principal Systems Engineer (Active Duty Military Only)

Through DoD SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes, Sierra Nevada Corporation provides internships to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These internships include up to six months of on-the-job training for eligible service members. As a Systems Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge ELINT/ESM signal processing products. You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

Develop systems meeting cost, schedule, quality, customer requirements and industry standards

Define system requirements and architectures based on customer needs

Disseminate system requirements to lower level assemblies and modules for design and implementation by the engineering team

Work with and lead a team of engineers

Contribute to and preside over design reviews

Draft and execute integration and test plans and procedures

Understand, plan, and execute technical activities in accordance with SNC policies, procedures and customer requirements

Develop proposal responses, estimate work effort and document basis of these estimates

Interface with customers

Travel to customers, co-contractors and various SNC locations to collaborate, attend Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and support installation and testing of our Systems.

Must-haves:

Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program

Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience

Experience with development of RF receiver and analysis systems used for and ESM applications

14+ years’ work experience in a systems engineering / engineering capacity

An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required, with the ability to get TS/SCI

Ability to define System Architectures, Requirements, Test Specs and Test plans based on customer requirements and interchanges for RF, Digital, and Receiving Systems to include defining use cases, control, and status and data products

Ability to think through and document Architectures, Requirements, Use Cases, CONOPs, System Control and Status, Test Plans, Test Specs and Test Procedures

Experience breaking down the requirements driven work into understandable tasking for the engineering team to execute.

Experience leading a team, providing technical oversight from system concept through I&T and transition to production

Prior experience estimating work and schedules in support of proposal activities, and documenting in Basis of Estimates and Technical Write-ups

Preferred:

Active TS/SCI

ELINT and ESM applications

Knowledge or Digital Signal Processing

Experience using MatLab and Excel to analyze system parameters and predict performance

System engineer over development writing and supporting business development and proposals

Demonstrated capability in requirements management and system modelling tools, such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB

Advanced experience with establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM)
