The department of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Sr. Manager, Finance to work on the UHealth campus. The Sr. Manager, Finance (H) leads and supports the organization's financial activities such as forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning, and treasury with the goal of enhancing profitability and cash flow management. Further, the Sr. Manager, Finance (H) oversees department staff to ensure that activities are always compliant with applicable rules and regulations.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONSEstablishes or recommends to management objectives and policies for the University.Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.Prepares various management reports on financial performance and explains and communicates key variance drivers and insights to appropriate managing staff.Provides key financial support and analysis on an ad-hoc basis to help drive and improve business performance.Compiles and analyzes data and prepares balance sheets and profit and loss statements.Formulates reports to summarize and forecast organization's business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.Identifies potential financial risks and areas of opportunity.Prepares and coordinates for audits of department's accounts.Cultivates and maintains relationships with banks and other external financial institutions to facilitate job functions.Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.Department Specific Functions
Collaborate with Department Administrators and Executive Director of Finance to prepare an annual operating budget in accordance with UHealth and University prescribed budget and planning guidelines to achieve the Chair's strategic initiatives and goals.Design and develop relevant reports identifying changes/trends in financial performance and other KPIs (key performance indicators).Serve as the Department lead on all issues related to the AOA.Review and validate financial documents prepared by the Department Administrators for new positions requests (PSGC templates).Manage the budgets for the Internal Medicine and MedPeds programs which includes AOA, MSOM and Observership funds.Serve as a resource and provide training to Administrators, accountants, and other department staff on workday and finance related tasks.Develop financial reports used for trending and feasibility analysis for strategic growth initiatives.Identifies process improvement opportunities and assist with implementation efforts for departmental projects and initiatives.Manages the review and approval of all TERMS reporting for both UHealth and JMH directorships.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in relevant fieldMinimum 7 years of relevant experienceKnowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Knowledge of business and management principles.Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
