Job Description:
L3Harris in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a senior professional with strong knowledge of electro-optical engineering to design and support ground-based electro-optical systems that include telescopes and sensor subsystems. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse array of skills, with an empehsis on hardware associated with telescopes, experience with writing requirements for vendors, and a working understanding of orbital mechanics.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for all aspects of Electro-Optical product development, analysis, documentation, and test.Manage complex projects or processes with general oversight.Utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results.Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.Perform simulations and present design reviews to peer engineers.Lead and perform trade studies required to make both tactical and strategic technical decisions for programs.Conduct design verification testing to validate the performance of designs.Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to electro-optical hardware and systems.Provide mentoring, guidance and leadership to novice engineers.Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.Experience drawing for Ground-Based Electro Optical SystemsExperience guiding the manufacture of electrical components for the Telescope and Sensor subsystem of a ground-based electro optical systemExperience processing Engineering Change Orders for electrical componentsExperience working with vendors to create customized hardware solutionsExperience with hardware requirements and testing for telescopes (i.e., angular movement and spot size)Experience conducting design verification testingPreferred Additional Skills:
Experience working with vendors to create customized hardware solutions, preferrably for telescopes.Understanding of Mersenne-Schmidt configuration for imaging systems.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $106,500.00 -$197,500.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays.
