Position SummaryBB&E is currently looking for an Environmental
Compliance Specialist
to support our existing federal and private sector portfolios. Based in Northville, MI, you will assist BB&E's clients with environmental permitting, compliance auditing, and sustainability initiatives for a diverse client base while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations.Experience & EducationThe compliance specialist must have a bachelor's degree in
environmental science or engineering
or similar degree.This position requires a professional with
4-8 plus years of experience in multi-media environmental compliance
for industrial and/or federal facilities.Previous experience in environmental consulting required.Professional engineer (P.E.) or similar professional certification in your field preferred.Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesProviding environmental compliance permitting including air, stormwater, and wastewater and maintaining compliance of environmental permits for our clients.Overseeing regulatory and other external reporting requirements and ensuring reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner, e.g. Tier II reports, TRI, Form R reports, biennial hazardous waste reports, discharge monitoring reports, air emission reports, etc.Developing plans, including SPCC plans, SWPPPs, hazardous waste contingency plans, waste management plans, etc.Assisting clients with onsite waste characterization and proper waste disposal options.Delivering environmental training to clients.Environmental, health & safety auditing, including experience with ISO 14001 and 45001 management systems.Key QualificationsThe position requires specific knowledge of and experience with:Federal, state, and local environmental regulations including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986 (SARA), and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).Microsoft Office suite knowledge and experience.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate with clients at all levels within an organization.OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.Physical RequirementsLifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time.Working conditions:Ability to work both indoor/outdoor (with exposure to the elements).Ability to walk/climb/knee/crouch and reach.Ability to work on rough terrain when necessary.Exposure to hazards/contaminants at times.Ability to wear the required PPE.Ability to work on-site in Northville, MIBB&E is an employee-owned firm and offers a full competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision and 401(k).If you are interested in joining our close-knit community of professionals, please submit your resume/qualifications and salary requirements.
