The day-to-day
As a Staff Engineer for the Mobility Application Server organization, you will play a crucial role in creating new designs, architectures, and methods for large-scale distributed systems. Collaborating closely with third party developers, customers, senior software engineers, product owners, and team leads, you will ensure that design roadmaps align with our long-term strategic vision and immediate business priorities.
What you'll need
Break down business, technical, and non-technical requirements into technical roadmapsBuild and clearly communicate designs that can be implemented by DevOps Teams with minimal directionApply your experience in Kubernetes, Helm, and Rancher/Fleet to assist 3rd parties in adding their products to Viasat's growing portfolio
What will help you on the job
To succeed in this position, it is important to have excellent communication skills to drive interaction with customers, peer developers, and project managers.The ability to train and guide junior software developers, along with expertise in designing and developing microservice architectures, will be helpful.Being familiar with modern approaches to configuring, testing, and deploying microservices independently is a positive attribute.Previous experience with application deployment/hosting in Kubernetes is preferred
Salary range
$168,100.00 - $247,600.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $208,700.00- $292,200.00/ annually

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
