Director, News Corp GSOC & Intel Operations

The GSOC Director, based in LA, will serve as the primary corporate conduit between News Corp GSOC contractors, the FOX GSOC leadership team, News Corp leadership teams, and be the administrative and operational custodian for all intelligence service support, vendors, subscription services, and contracts. The GSOC Director will serve a critical role as the local authority on “corporate duty of care” and oversee the day-to-day intelligence reporting and monitoring activities of contracted analysts and enforce established corporate policy and procedures. The GSOC Director will be an integral part of the News Corp Global Security operations, directly responsible for researching, analyzing, and publishing risk assessments affecting business units across the globe. The incumbent will leverage their deep substantive knowledge of global security and geopolitics to influence some of the company’s most complex security decisions.

Essential Function / Deliverable Specifications:

Research, analyze and process open-source information to produce strategic intelligence reports, presentations, travel briefs, and security risk assessments that provide News Corp Global Security with protective intelligence, travel security, and global awareness.

Provide oversight of the collection of international, national and local intelligence utilizing various sources to produce a written daily/incident specific analytical report(s) to be supplied to key stakeholders and business units.

Lead and supervise a team of contracted intelligence analysts within the GSOC. Responsible for training and development, quality of product output, and creating a highly adaptable and flexible team environment.

Support operational and tactical intelligence needs by: proactively identifying emerging threats, responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) from various News Corp and Dow Jones Departments and Business Units, and publishing situational reports on imminent threats to the business. Responsible for conducting contract compliance audits to ensure GSOC operations are performing in accordance with existing SLA/SOW legal agreements.

Responsible for account management, recruitment, orientation, training, development, and retention of high caliber contracted staff.

Direct work assignments, provide performance feedback (quarterly), coach and mentor subordinates, and perform contract-related administrative duties to include scheduling, payroll and as required, disciplinary actions.

Partner with the News Corp and FOX Operational Resilience team as part of the Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery (BC / DR) plan to build out and manage the Fusion platform. Develop effective working relationships and policy synergies with the FOX GSOC in LA and Alternate FOX GSOC in Tempe, AZ.

Work closely with the FOX Operational Resilience team to refine crisis management plans, BC / DR plans, and integrate disparate incident management programs, mass communication tools, intelligence sharing services, etc. into the companies’ BC / DR Fusion platform.

Monitor email inboxes and all communications systems; assist GSOC analysts with answering calls for assistance; prioritize and process incoming information according to procedure.

Assist GSOC analysts with drafting emergency communications, whenever necessary.

Ensure appropriate security management within News Corporation and Dow Jones are apprised of all significant and unusual events in real-time, maintain appropriate documentation.

Investigate incidents and create accurate and timely incident reports, escalating to the appropriate persons within News Corporation and Dow Jones as necessary.

Develop and maintain relationships with studio intelligence partners, federal law enforcement and other public agencies (DSAC, OSAC, InfraGard, etc.).

Experience and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s desirable in a field related to intelligence or global security and/or 8 years’ experience as intelligence analyst or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company.

Formal certifications in intelligence collection, collection management, intelligence analysis, or other intelligence disciplines from a government agency preferred.

Substantive intelligence experience in the public and private sectors. Specifically, a deep understanding of the intelligence cycle and its application in a dynamic corporate security environment.

Access to company resources, such as electronic databases, third-party intelligence platforms, business continuity, crisis management tools, and other automated systems necessary to perform GSOC responsibilities.

Development and maintenance of internal processes and procedures related to the GSOC and affected stakeholders.

Responsible for initial and continuous training team members on how to effectively handle different situations and effectively manage incidents.

Demonstrate a strong aptitude for problem solving.

Ability to operate under stress, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and work in a team atmosphere.

Excellent instructional, customer service, written and verbal communication skills are required.

Comfortable with high-tech work environment and constant learning of new tools and innovations.

A dependable team player with business maturity, enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

Ability to quickly forge productive relationships and build networks at all levels, internally and externally to News Corp.

Experience in leading and managing intelligence teams and initiatives.

Ability to work independently in a dispersed virtual team structure.

Experience with open source intelligence tools and techniques.

Experience with mapping and/or intelligence/information management systems.

Ability to work under pressure.

Excellent customer service and interpersonal communications skills.

Willing to work a flexible schedule and travel, sometimes on short notice.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with mass emergency communications systems (i.e. Everbridge).

Understanding and ability to use travel tracking systems (i.e. ISOS/Travel Tracker, Vismo).

Experience with GSOC security systems (i.e. Anvil, D3, Lenel/Genetec, Milestone, etc.).

Job Category:

Pay Range: $110,000 – $150,000
