Photonics Engineer
to join our dynamic team in
Bedford, IN . In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing photonics-based devices and systems for a variety of applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optics, lasers, and photonics, along with a passion for pushing the limits of optical technology.This position is contingent upon contract award in Early 2025.This position is full time and can be worked remotely or on site in Bedford, IN.Relocation assistance will be considered on a case by case basis.Key Responsibilities:Design and simulate photonics devices and systems using software tools such as MATLAB, Lumerical, or COMSOLDevelop optical components and subsystems, including lasers, modulators, detectors, and optical amplifiersCharacterize and test optical devices and systems in laboratory environmentsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate photonics solutions into larger systems or productsStay current with industry trends and advancements in photonics technologyContribute to research and development projects aimed at pushing the boundaries of optical technologyQualificationsQualifications:Seven (7) years of experience &
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics or related field
Or PhD in the above and four (4) years of related experience
Strong background in optics, lasers, and photonicsProficiency in optical design software tools such as Zemax, OpticStudio, or equivalentExperience with optical modeling, simulation, and characterizationHands-on experience with optical test and measurement equipmentKnowledge of semiconductor device physics and fabrication techniques is a plusExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong communication and teamwork abilitiesClearance:Must be a US Citizen and willing to obtain a Secret security clearanceDescriptionSAIC is seeking a talented and innovative

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
