Work closely with clients to understand their questions and needs and provide direct quantum support in their laboratory environment. Mentor and learn from teammates, run advanced experiments, study and evaluate complex data, and recommend changes and alternative solutions. Design and develop integrated photonic devices such as waveguides, including silicon, silicon nitride, and aluminum nitride, modulators, including thermo-optic and plasma dispersion-based, and detectors for chip-scale accelerometers and chip-to-chip RF time transfer. Interact with foundry partners to develop novel photonic devices and processes within standard Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) fabrication flows. Collaborate with world-leading multidisciplinary teams across the DoD, industry, and academia to integrate traditionally bulk and fiber optic systems to the chip-scale. Perform simulations using industry standard photonics and tools such as Ansys Lumerical MODE, FDTD, DEVICE, and INTERCONNECT, to optimize device and circuit performance. Design integrated photonic chips for foundry fabrication using standard layout software such as GDSFactory, GDSpy, Nazca, and KLayout. Characterize integrated photonic devices and circuits experimentally using die- and wafer-level test and measurement equipment. Lead experiments in quantum optics and photonics, analyzing experimental results and identifying opportunities for innovation.Basic Qualifications:Experience with integrated photonic device and circuit designExperience taping out silicon photonics chips with commercial foundriesExperience using photonic device design software such as Lumerical, RSoft, MEEP, or COMSOL, and layout software such as Cadence, GDSFactory, Optodesigner, or KLayoutExperience in experimental quantum optics and device characterization using standard optical instrumentation such as lasers, detectors, or modulatorsKnowledge of standard CMOS nanofabrication techniques such as lithography, etching, or deposition for photonic devicesKnowledge of quantum mechanics, quantum optics, and quantum information theoryAbility to obtain a Secret clearanceDoctorate degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Materials SciencesAdditional Qualifications:Experience with photonic sensing and optical gyroscopes or accelerometersKnowledge of electronic-photonic integration and basics of integrated photonics packaging using optical or electricalClearance:Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.Compensation:At Booz Allen, we celebrate your contributions, provide you with opportunities and choices, and support your total well-being. The projected compensation range for this position is $67,600.00 to $154,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
