Silicon Photonics Design Engineer

LightIC Technologies is seeking to hire a talented and motivated silicon photonics design engineer to join our rapidly growing photonics development team. Join us if you are: Interested in working in a rapidly growing early-stage startup Enthusiastic about working on disruptive silicon photonics and LiDAR technologies What you will do: Understand the silicon photonics fab process to take into account design-process interactions and drive device layout Communicate with foundry partners and own tape-outs Define test plan for devices and systems and assist with the execution Collaborate with the system integration team to integrate the silicon photonics chip with the rest of the system What you need to have: M.S. with 5+ years in silicon photonics design, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Optical Engineering or a related field Solid background with photonic devices including lasers, passive and active components, detectors Hands-on experience with silicon or III-V photonic component design such as lasers, detectors, waveguides, gratings, etc. Experience with photonic circuit design for optical communication or sensing Experience with silicon photonics chip testing, including fiber-to-chip coupling and use of common testing equipment such as tunable lasers, oscilloscopes, etc. Knowledge of silicon or III-V photonics chip packaging Thrive in a fast-paced environment, with an engineering mindset and a hands-on, get-stuff-done attitude Strong problem-solving skills What We Offer: Be part of an early startup that is backed by leading venture capitalists Considerable equity of an early startup with great growth potential Competitive compensation and exceptional benefits Paid lunch, work dinner, office snacks, team off-sites, and more
