Itochu Building Products (IBP) Holdings
has an immediate need for a
Manager, Employee Relations.
IBP is comprised of Master Halco, Alta Forest Products, and US Premier Tube Mills making IBP the largest and leading manufacturer and wholesale distributor of fencing products in North America.
The
Manager, Employee Relations
will be an integral part of the IBP Human Resources shared services team, overseeing the resolution of workplace disputes, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and fostering a positive work environment. The Manager, Employee Relations will ensure fairness and consistency, serving as a neutral party when handling employee concerns, interpreting and applying company policies, in providing guidance to managers with their employee relations issues.

Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all aspects of labor relations, including collective bargaining agreements, negotiations, grievance procedures, and union interactions
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, with particular emphasis on California state employment law
Serve as a trusted advocate for employees, ensuring fair treatment, addressing concerns, and fostering a culture of open communication and respect
Demonstrate excellent conflict resolution skills, adept at handling sensitive employee issues, investigations, and mediating disputes to achieve mutually beneficial resolutions.
Successfully manage and mentor one HR Generalist, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to foster their professional growth.
Collaborate with HR leadership to develop and implement effective HR policies, procedures, and initiatives aligned with organizational goals and legal requirements
Comfortably express and advocate for unpopular opinions when necessary, prioritizing the well-being of both employees and the company
Develop strategies and protocols for managing a distributed workforce, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and alignment with organizational objectives
Qualifications:Required Education and Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in employee/labor relations, compliance, within a multi-state organization, with specific familiarity with California state employment law
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations
Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS platforms is a plus
Bilingual (English & Spanish) is a plus
Required Skills / Abilities:
Excellent conflict resolution skills with an elevated level of emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics
Proven ability to lead a team and manage others, with experience in mentoring, coaching, and developing HR professionals
Comfortable voicing unpopular opinions when necessary to advocate for the best interests of both employees and the company
Ability to work cross-functionally with people of all levels and departments to garner resources and knowledge needed to accomplish goals
Travel:
Up to 15% or as needed.
Work Environment:
Office environment with hybrid schedule: In office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Remote Wednesday and Friday.
