Our commitment to safety, quality, and innovation drives our success, and we’re looking for a Human Resources Manager to support our team of 80-100 employees, including 60 craft workers and 20 professional staff.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an accomplished Human Resources Manager with a strategic vision and deep expertise in California employment practices, particularly within the construction, design, or engineering industries. This position is vital to driving HR initiatives that align with our business objectives, foster a supportive and compliant work environment, and enhance the employee experience from hire to retire.

Key Responsibilities:

Compensation & Benefits:

Design and manage competitive compensation structures and comprehensive benefits programs. Oversee the administration of health plans, including vendor negotiations and compliance with HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, and ERISA regulations.

Market Analysis & Payband Setting:

Conduct salary benchmarking and establish pay bands that attract and retain top talent, ensuring alignment with market standards and company goals.

Performance Management:

Develop and implement performance management systems that promote continuous feedback, career development, and high performance.

Recruitment & Onboarding:

Oversee full-cycle recruitment, emphasizing a seamless and engaging onboarding experience that sets new hires up for success.

Employee Relations & Compliance:

Serve as a trusted advisor on employee relations matters, manage conflict resolution, and maintain strict compliance with California labor laws, including FMLA, ADA, and prevailing wage requirements.

Training & Development:

Create and lead training initiatives that advance employee skills, promote safety, and support professional growth in a fast-paced environment.

Union Relations & Labor Agreements:

Manage union relations and ensure adherence to collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), including compliance with wage scales and working conditions.

Workplace Safety & Cal/OSHA Compliance:

Champion safety initiatives and ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA standards through proactive training and accident prevention measures.

Apprenticeship Programs & Skilled Labor Training:

Collaborate with apprenticeship programs to meet recruitment needs and develop skilled labor resources.

Strategic HR Initiatives:

Drive strategic HR projects that align with business objectives and promote a culture of engagement, inclusion, and productivity.

Qualifications:

Experience:

A minimum of 10 years in Human Resources, including 5 years in a management role and at least 3 years in the construction, design, or engineering sectors.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.

HR Expertise:

Extensive knowledge of California employment laws and regulations, especially as they apply to the construction industry.

Skills:

Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage diverse HR functions efficiently.

HR Systems Proficiency:

Experience with HRIS platforms such as ADP, and strong data analysis skills using Excel.

Preferred Certification:

Professional HR certifications, such as PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP, are highly desirable.

Salary Range:

$95,950 to $135,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
