Large Level 1 hospital in Mississippi needs RN's for General MedSurg Unit.Must have solid experience as an RN.1 or more years level 1 trauma experience PREFERRED or experience at a Very large medical center with a lot of surgeries/high acuity patients.Must be comfortable with lines, chest tubes.EPIC CHARTING experience is required.Job Requirements

12 hours, 7a-7p or 7p-7a.Travelers are expected to fill holes but managers will try to accommodate block scheduling as schedule allows.Open to weekenders if traveler would like to work every weekend but that is not required.every other or 2 weekends per month is standard, could be higher to meet needs of department.Rotate in with regular staff for holiday requirement.Unit Specific Information
Med/Surg 6S General MedSurg.# Beds: 32.Nurse:Patient Ratios: typical ratio for all medsurg units is 1:5 up to 1:6 at times, ratio would be adjusted down for higher acuity patients.Common diagnoses/Types of patients: current INFECTIOUS DISEASE, also takes medsurg overflow.Are RNs required to titrate drips?: heparin, could have an order for amio and that can be started and then patient would be transferred to cardiac unit.Charge Nurse/House Supervisor?Both. Nurse managers are in house M-F business hours, starting at 3pm M-F and all weekend there is an adult house sup. charge takes light patient assignment, will take full load of patients if needed. Educator and manager for each unit. Smaller units share manager and educator.RT Equipment: cpap bipap at night, RT to help, high flow on 2n.Floating Requirements?: within skillset, all staff float between all medsurg units. Higher acuity patients would be given to core staff.Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided?: any color, needs to be solid color and professional.Unit/Department-specific orientation: first day, all paperwork and attestations, logins for Omnicel and Epic, show around unit (a few hours), discuss scheduling. 2 additional shifts with preceptor.Additional Details
FINGERPRINT REQUIREMENT.IN PERSON PROCESS can be printed in Jackson or Grenada MS the week prior to start (48 hr turnaround).REMOTE PROCESS 10-14 days needed for processing.Must work at least 3 of the following 6 dates: Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve, New Years.
