Responsibilities: • Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases • Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings • Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action • Keep client files properly organized and up to date
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop case strategies, provide leadership, and guide paralegals and legal assistants • Handle full caseloads independently, from case inception to resolution • Conduct in-depth legal research and prepare memos on complex case issues • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and contracts as needed • Appear in court for various family law proceedings, representing clients in high-stakes situations • Prepare clients for trials, advocate on their behalf, and work with experts when necessary • Oversee division of marital assets and negotiate settlements in divorce cases • Maintain organized client files, ensuring documentation accuracy and timeliness Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are required • Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations • Extra consideration for those with a criminal justice background
