Requirements for Attorney (Mid Level) Insurance Defense Lawyer
Education and Licensure
- Juris Doctor (JD) Degree from an accredited law school.
- State Bar Licensure
- 6-10 years of litigation experience with a focus on insurance defense.
- Experience in insurance defense litigation is typically required, focusing on areas such as general liability, auto accidents, premises liability, or workers' compensation.
- Proficiency with case analysis, client counseling, and strategy development for defense cases.
- Prior trial experience (or at least significant motion practice and courtroom exposure).
- Familiarity with insurance policies and how they apply in various defense scenarios is valuable, particularly when dealing with complex or high-exposure claims.
- Must be US Citizen or Authorized to Work in the United States
- Legal Research and Writing: Proficiency in conducting legal research, drafting motions, briefs, and other legal documents with minimal supervision.
- Case Management: Ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously, often from initial filing through to resolution, and manage deadlines efficiently.
- Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills to work toward settlements or favorable resolutions with claimants, other attorneys, or third-party representatives.
- Litigation and Trial Skills: Familiarity with all stages of the litigation process, including pre-trial motions, discovery, depositions, and, ideally, courtroom procedures.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving: Capacity for assessing risk, evaluating legal strategies, and crafting defense approaches tailored to each case.
- Interpersonal Skills
- Client Relations: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, including claims adjusters and insurance representatives, providing regular updates and managing expectations.
- Collaboration: Often required to work with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal staff within the firm to ensure thorough case preparation.
- Knowledge of Insurance Law: A deep understanding of insurance coverage issues, liability defenses, and claims handling procedures is critical.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations that govern insurance claims and defense practices.

As an Attorney in Insurance Defense, you will play a critical role in representing our insurance clients in legal matters. Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and analysis on insurance policies, laws, and regulations to provide sound legal advice and strategies for our clients.
