Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

Assemble metal-clad equipment and other power distribution equipment by installing components, units, and subassemblies according to job specifications. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, and reports to determine material requirements and assembly instructions. Adjust, repair, or replace electrical components/parts to correct defects and ensure conformance to specifications. Set up and maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times. Understand and follow all safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Assemble metal-clad and power distribution equipment.

Read and interpret mechanical drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, and work orders.

Adjust, repair, or replace electrical components to ensure conformance to specifications.

Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Follow all safety policies and procedures.

Install components by reading and interpreting material lists and panel layouts.

Disassemble finished products, prepare for shipping, and assist in the shipping process.

Understand and execute company goals and objectives while contributing to team cohesiveness.

Perform all duties assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

1-2 years of assembly experience preferred

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations

Proficiency in reading a measuring tape to a 1/16” measurement

Capability of reading and interpreting assembly documents

Ability to write simple correspondence and complete routine reports

Experience using hand-held power tools, overhead cranes, forklifts, and pallet jacks

Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute instructions

Problem-solving skills involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Proficiency in written and spoken communication

Work Environment

1st shift: 5:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Thursday. May be required to work optional overtime on Fridays. 2nd shift: 3:30pm-1:30am, Monday-Thursday. May be required to work optional overtime on Fridays. The work is mostly quiet and clean, with employees working on different sections of builds. The company builds substations, switchgear, circuit breakers, bus duct, and many other electrical systems.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Canton, Ohio.
