A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with experience in bankruptcy and commercial litigation to join its Kansas City, MO office. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience or have completed relevant coursework in bankruptcy law. The caseload will include work on Chapters 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy matters, representing both debtors and creditors, as well as handling commercial litigation across the region. This is an on-site position with no telecommuting, offering a great opportunity for a self-motivated attorney looking for long-term employment with sophisticated casework.Duties:Manage bankruptcy cases, including Chapters 7, 11, and 13, representing debtors and creditors.Handle commercial litigation matters in both Missouri and Kansas.Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and trials as necessary.Communicate regularly with clients, providing legal guidance and updates on case progress.Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex bankruptcy and litigation cases.Maintain strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing case files.Requirements:A minimum of 2 years of experience in bankruptcy law and/or commercial litigation, or completion of bankruptcy coursework.Licenses to practice law in both Missouri and Kansas, or a commitment to obtain both.Strong litigation skills, including research, writing, and trial preparation.Excellent interpersonal skills for working with clients and legal teams.Ability to work independently and manage a demanding caseload.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in handling complex legal matters.Education:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Certifications:Active licenses to practice law in both Missouri and Kansas or the ability to obtain these licenses promptly.Skills:Proficient in legal research and case management software.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong analytical skills, particularly in bankruptcy law and litigation.Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.Collaborative team player with a self-starter attitude and ambition.This role offers a chance for an attorney to grow their practice in bankruptcy and commercial litigation with a well-established firm in Kansas City.
