Summary/Objective:
The Project Engineer shall assist with project related engineering activities such as drafting, generating design basis documents, procedures, and calculations, and support equipment related data management, testing, and inspections under the supervision of a Lead or Sr. Project Engineer.
Responsibilities:
Prepare project specific and general equipment drawings, calculations, and procedures based on commercial, technical, and operational requirements.
Support proposal efforts by generating basic supporting calculations and drawings, for review and concept validation.
Incorporate safety, technical accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and continuous quality improvement in all aspects of the work.
Complete project and equipment technical documentation and record keeping, including drawings, calculations, procedures, testing, use history, etc. as it relates to project use, or as directed.
Provide technical support for project site work including interface with customers and Bigge field personnel to answer questions and resolve site constructability issues.
Manage and control project-related engineering effort and deliverables schedule within agreed budgets and deadlines.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil or Structural preferred)
2+ years of experience as a practicing structural, civil or rigging engineer, with an emphasis on crane lift planning, tower crane installation or general rigging practices, along with general steel design knowledge preferred.
PE license preferred. FE / EIT certification, with a desire to eventually obtain a PE license, is required.
The ideal candidate will have some basic working knowledge of cranes (mobile and tower), construction/personnel hoists and rigging techniques but not required.
Ability to read and interpret construction documents such as drawings, procedures, and specifications.
Ability to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, make sound technical recommendations, and prepare technical documents and presentations.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with supervisors and field personnel is essential.
Basic AutoCAD experience and capabilities is required.
Proficiency with structural analysis software (RISA 3D or similar) and FEA software (Nastran FEMAP or similar) is preferred.
