The successful candidate will be responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests and is responsible for coordinating and managing the lower-level inspectors. They will also apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesReview and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulationsPerform routine tests on concrete, soils and other materialsMeasure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codesCoordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standardsAssign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the projectWork on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issuesGather and maintain record documentsMake field notes and computationsInteract with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiriesNonessential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assignedRequired SkillsStrong computer proficiencyMust successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screeningRequired ExperienceEngineering or Engineering Technology degreeSenior Engineer Intern classification requires an EI certificateOne (1) year of Construction Inspection Experience (CEI) experience in construction of roadway or bridge structuresClient requested certificationsActive driver's licenseExperience PreferredSupervisory experience in construction management/inspection situationsAbility to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge roleQualifications / CertificationsMust have the following as required by the scope of work for the intended assignment on the project at the time of NTP:CTQP Final Estimates Level ICTQP Concrete Field Technician Level ICTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges)CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level ICTQP Asphalt Roadway Level IICTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level ICTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level IICTQP Pile Driving InspectionCTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection (Required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures, lighting structures, and traffic signal structure foundations)FDOT Intermediate MOTIMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level INuclear Radiation SafetyFlorida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and ContractorsRecommended when the scope of the project includes concrete pavement, grinding concrete pavement, or concrete pavement slab replacement. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed.
