This is a Full-Time, Mid-Level, Technical position with the City's Development Services Department, Permits and Inspections division. An individual in this position plans, organizes, and coordinates the permit application submittal and issuance process. Reporting relationship: Building Official
Examples of Work
Supervise and mentor Permit Service Representatives; In collaboration with the Development Review Coordinator, manage and coordinate the city's one stop development review process by evaluating applications for completeness, providing oversight of plan submittals, preparing and routing development applications for review, processing plan review responses, and providing other correspondence as appropriate and assigned; Maintain appropriate logs of applications processed; Assign and assist with the oversight of fee assessment, payments and issuance of permits and other correspondence as appropriate; Act and serve as certified Cash Handling Specialist, assuring dual control remains in compliance with the City's Cash Handling Procedures Manual. Perform routine inspections of department cash records including random audits and monitoring to assure compliance with the Policy. Attend and participate in pre-development, pre-application, pre-construction and technical review meetings for development projects; Provide efficient and effective service delivery to customers; identify and recommend opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; Attend and participate in a professional association; stay up to date of new trends, innovations and laws affecting the development plan submittal and approval process; Perform other related duties as assigned; Subject to 24 hours recall. High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate; a minimum of four (4) years professional experience in a government permit granting agency or closely related field required. A current Permit Technician Certification from the International Code Council (ICC) and Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. Supplemental Information
