Position Overview
The position includes a responsibility to evaluate the exposure characteristics of transportation accounts, underwrite on behalf of multiple insurance carriers, and make a determination in terms of the most appropriate carrier placement based upon risk detail, carrier guidelines, and overall market conditions. In addition, the position provides an opportunity to grow and contribute to existing retail and carrier relationships, while also sourcing and nurturing new relationships.
Responsibilities
* Source, underwrite, and quote transportation business within specific insurance carrier guidelines* Marketing of new and/or renewal transportation accounts to determine the most appropriate terms for the insured and retail agent depending upon coverage, cost, and overall market conditions* Develop deep and trusting relationships with retail and carrier partners through consistent and ongoing engagement, communication, and negotiation* Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of product, policy forms, and market conditions* Communicate new products, ideas, and services to producers as well as other co-workers
Qualifications
* A minimum of 5 years transportation underwriting experience* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally* Exceptional ability to communicate clearly and effectively* Strong commitment to exceptional service and response time* Ability to maintain accuracy in all aspects of the role* Working knowledge of MS Office and related products with the willingness and ability to learn new systems* Problem solving skills with the ability to make real-time decisions* Willingness and ability to participate and contribute to a team that's fast-paced and collaborative in nature
