Special Risk Underwriters (SRU), an Amwins Group Company, is conducting a candidate search looking a Senior Underwriter to support the new SRU Casualty XS Side Car program.
Founded in 2008, SRU is one of the country's largest and fastest growing managing general agents in the country. SRU specializes in underwriting catastrophe property insurance and casualty insurance and manages 13 programs with over $600M of gross written premium. SRU underwrites on behalf of alternative markets and domestic and international carriers to deliver exclusive products for Amwins Brokers.

Position Overview
Our Underwriters are responsible for writing profitable business within established guidelines, management of various relationships, and underwriting of risks. The ideal candidate will be able to function independently and think creatively.
We are looking for individuals who are eager to add their unique value to the team. While working with the industry's leading wholesalers, our Senior Underwriters are focused on business results and the overall financial health of the program/s they support. As a Senior Underwriter, you will have the opportunity to grow your career with the largest independent wholesale insurance broker and general agency in the U.S. insurance industry.
Responsibilities
* Manage book of business including underwriting new business and maintaining renewal ratios on the.* Marketing of product to wholesale brokers through e-mail, phone calls and personal visits* Help team members by answering questions they might have regarding department procedures, coverage issues* Assist in the training and development of team members* Guide and direct underwriting assistant/s* Assist with program build out* May supervise projects or teams of 2-5 people
Qualifications
* 7+ years of relevant underwriting experience* Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office proficiency with an emphasis in Word and Excel
