Associate Category Manager
for our growing
Gourmet Foods
team!

Essential Functions:
Suggest new product lines for distribution and source new products of interest within the Gourmet CategoryContact manufacturers to receive pricing and samples for reviewReview samples and analyze new products lines with regards to competitive placement, key selling points, Product longevity, guaranteed shelf life, minimum order quantity, pallet configurations, warehouse locations, current distributors handling the line, direct accounts they may service, ranking of items/categories, delivered and pick up pricingSchedule, manage, and participate in meetings and conference calls with new and existing vendors in the specialty foods category.Negotiate pricing, programs, and minimums for new and existing vendorsObtain key information from vendors for items purchased including UPC codes, weights, pallet configuration, pack sizes, prices, deals, lead times, shipping methods, product handling and storage requirements, promotions, and termsSet up of new assortment additions, including photography coordination and creating marketing materials for "What's New Publication"Request and compile sell sheets and samples of new linesSurvey sales team for product informationWork with sales team and vendors on scheduling product demonstrations, requesting samples for specific accounts and on account specific promotions (i.e., requesting free fills and /or ad requests, requesting samples for specific events)Coordinate vendor participation for food and candy related trade showsMay perform other duties and participate in other projects as required by the departmentMinimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Merchandising or similar creative business disciplineMinimum of 2 - 4 years of buying / purchasing experience in a food manufacturing or distribution environmentNegotiating and relationship building skillsPC Literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and busy work environment.Strong recall skills and the ability to think and respond quickly and intelligentlyExcellent overall written and verbal communication and organizational skillsDetail orientation and the ability to use logical thought processes in order to solve problems involving several variablesMust be able to move/unpack boxes of samples of new items for review.What we offer:
