Motion & Flow Control Products, Inc. is a leading fluid power distributor and systems designer looking for a Vice President of manufacturing to lead our six design, build, and repair facilities. Activities in these facilities include building hydraulic power units, CNC tube bending and assembly fabrication, electrical control panel assembly, manifold manufacturing and CNC machining operations, hydraulic pump, motor, valve, and cylinder repair and field service work. Design, engineering, and fabrication ranges from design and build of a custom one-time build unit to repetitive OEM volume parts, assemblies and systems. Familiarity and knowledge of the fluid power industry is highly desirable. The Vice President of Manufacturing will be exclusively focused on driving manufacturing excellence throughout the organization to enable continued growth. This individual will drive strategic initiatives to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality while aligning the manufacturing initiatives with the company's long-term goals. The Vice President of Manufacturing will manage a team of directors and mid-level managers, ensure operational excellence, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and safety. The role requires deep expertise in manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and operational strategy, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.
Primary Duties:
Develop and implement long-term strategies to improve manufacturing operations, aligning them with overall business goals, market trends, and technological advancements.Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Directors, plant managers, and other senior leaders across multiple facilities. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.Develop and manage the division's P&L, focusing on cost controls, operational efficiency, and maintaining profitability. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for manufacturing performance, including output, efficiency, safety, and quality. Provide regular updates and reports to the executive team.Consistently meet or exceed short and long-term goals and initiatives as defined and agreed to by the manufacturing manager and the senior leadership team.Define, implement, and refine operational guidelines, including workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality, that govern the manufacturing activities performed by MFCP. Clearly communicate those practices and guidelines through the organization.Define, implement and report key metrics for all manufacturing operations while executing 5S and Lean Six Sigma strategies to drive efficiency and profitability. This includes the development of productivity goals by group and establishing balanced focus between increasing productivity and reducing the cost of manufacturing operations.Travel to manufacturing locations, 50%-60% of the time, and work with the group of direct reports that run the locations day-to-day to ensure procedure and policy compliance while also focusing on employee development.In partnership with the corporate supply chain and sales and marketing teams, support the development and deployment of comprehensive strategies to enhance manufacturing inventories which support strategic sales and marketing efforts to drive growth opportunities for MFCP's manufacturing groups.Work with the quality team to engrain "built in quality" disciplines into all aspects of the manufacturing processes at MFCP to ensure the highest quality that meets all internal and external requirements.Oversee the maintenance of manufacturing equipment through partnership with third-party maintenance groups.Work with the operations team to identify software options to drive project and manufacturing stage visibility, scheduling visibility, and other pertinent visibility and support the integration of such software into the business.Support annual budgeting for the manufacturing operations, engineering, and facilities.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Proficient with P21 ERP system with awareness of other manufacturing software options.Proven track record of leading large-scale manufacturing operations, managing multiple facilities, and overseeing significant P&L responsibilities.Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field (Master's degree or MBA preferred).Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification or equivalent.The ability to lead with emotional intelligence, understanding the value of active listening, strong communication and creating an open and collaborative work environment for employees.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Job requires occasionally lifting objects up to 35 pounds, bending to retrieve equipment, parts, hose reels, to perform pressure testing and to push, pull or slide heavy objects. Standing for long periods of time while cutting, crimping, blowing out, tagging and plugging hoses. Frequent repetitive grasping, twisting, pushing and pulling use of the hands. Occasionally use hydraulic crimping equipment, saws, pressure testing stand, small power tools and various other hand tools. Some materials or processes used in hose production may generate odors. Hose production is in a non-air-conditioned area of our facility which may experience high or low seasonal temperatures. The physical demands and work environment reflected are representative of those encountered by employees when performing the essential job functions.
