ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:
This position reports to the Field Network Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Field Network Technician is responsible for network development and maintenance in the field. The Field Network Technician maintains the company's network systems, troubleshoots network systems when necessary and makes improvements to the network. Works with the organizations team and its clients to install, configure, maintain, and fix all LAN/WAN and other equipment issues, ensuring efficient network functionality
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with the operations, automation, security, and information technology groups to understand the communication needs of the field assetsProvide construction, operation & maintenance of communication lines, wireless data, fiber optic data lines, wireless tower lines and wireless servicesResponsible for installation and maintenance of network equipment and configuration of various devicesWorking knowledge of Open-Source Interconnection (OSI) model to Layer 3 (Networking)Interpret network drawings and schematics and implements design parameters as specifiedInstall and troubleshoot fiber, voice, and data circuits utilizing appropriate test equipmentWork independently in remote locations with weather extremes found in West Texas locationsInstall, maintain, and troubleshoot emergency power systems to include hut level battery plants, solar-battery setups, and back-up generatorsTerminate, splice, and test fiber optic cables utilizing appropriate equipmentPerform site surveys for upgrades and new installations of fiber optic / wireless servicesInstall, troubleshoot, and maintain licensed and unlicensed/licensed IP and RF based radioPerform all duties in accordance with all applicable OSHA and FCC safety guidelinesIdentify potential safety hazards and report to supervisor as appropriateUse extensive knowledge of DC current electronics with a basic knowledge of AC current electrical systemsKnowledge of ANSI/TIA-568 cabling standards
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3 years of related industry experienceAssociate's or Technical degree in Electronics, or Computer ScienceExperience with OTDRs and OPMs in finding fiber optic faultsExperience using Microsoft Office application SuitePreferred certifications in fiber and applicable industry hardware and software applicationsAbility to safely use ladders, aerial lifts, and other associated telecommunications construction equipmentAbility to work a schedule based on regular weekly hours with added callout events as well
