Director, Finance - HCI and Acute Care

PURPOSE OF POSITION:Manage the general accounting functions relating to general ledger, and accounts payable and internal and external reporting the for the HCI and the Hospitals.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist the Corporate Controller in directing the accounting and financial reporting function of CCHCCoordinate and oversee the management of general accounting functions and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and direct the preparation and distribution of timely and accurate operating and financial reports required within and outside the organization.Maintain data accuracy and integrity for all the Hospitals and HCI.Manage the cash disbursements and intercompany transfers of all CCHC affiliates for vendor payments for those affiliates utilizing the corporate accounts payable database.Promote the concept of cooperation and develop lines of communication with persons both inside and outside the healthcare system.Select and hire professional level staff and provide training. Evaluate and initiate appropriate personnel activities.Maintain fiscal control over CCHC expenditures.Install and maintain computerized general ledger, payroll, accounts payable and fixed asset systems. Control the structure of the modules for all Cape Cod Healthcare entities.Evaluate existing procedures in order to to ensure that the department is operating efficiently and effectively.Oversee preparation and review of all internal and external reporting.Work in conjunction with the outside auditing firm and affiliates to ensure a successful year-end audit.Maintain accounting for CHICO financial results into the Consolidated Financial statements.Keep informed on the latest development in the healthcare field through study, reading and appropriate attendance at meetings, workshops and seminars.Perform other work related duties as required or assigned.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING :Bachelors degree in Accounting; CPA and/or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) preferredExperience in GAAP accounting7-10 years related experience, preferably in an acute care hospital/healthcare organizationExperience with relational databases and large ERP systems experience with PeopleSoft highly desirableAdvance proficiency with MS Office applications and related accounting and finance software programsDemonstrated project management experiencePrevious experience supervising staff with the ability to coach, motivate and engage employees in a finance functionExcellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to all levels of managementStrong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced, busy environmentAbility to use sound judgment to effectively solve problems within the scope of the position
