POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The College PAC Coordinator will provide support for the development, implementation, and delivery of BBBSLA's College PAC program. BBBSLA's College PAC Program prepares low-income, first-generation students for college, improves their access to higher education, and helps them achieve the goal of successful completion of higher education. The College PAC program seeks to deliver a comprehensive curriculum that helps mentees achieve their full potential while connecting them, their mentors, and parents to the knowledge and skills they need to successfully navigate the college process, beginning with early preparation for admissions through to degree attainment.

The CPAC Coordinator will play a central role in the development and execution of workforce development, interns, and programming for BBBSLA's College PAC Program. In collaboration with BBBSLA's management team, the CPAC coordinator will directly support the development of strategic partnerships to build and deliver the College PAC Program's curriculum. The CPAC coordinator will provide direct case management focused on bridging the gap between college and career for youth and build meaningful relationships with mentees, mentors, and families to ensure that mentees receive the quality support and guidance they need throughout their college and career journey.

ESSENTIAL JOB ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Development and Implementation

Manage the execution of a workforce development curriculum and assist in curriculum development for postsecondary education, personal management, and financial literacy needed to succeed in college and career.

Recruit and confirm mentees preparing for college and attending college for internship opportunities in the entertainment industry.

Research additional internship opportunities for mentees.

Coordinate the development of strategies that help sustain mentees, mentors, and parents' involvement with BBBSLA beyond high school.

Help identify and cultivate strategic partnerships to bring in outside resources to deliver College PAC subject-matter workshops (i.e. financial aid, personal statement writing, resume building, professional development), activities, tours, and other sessions.

Provide resume-building support to mentees.

Coordinate the PAC Weekend Workshop events facilitated by the College PAC Success Team and program partners for mentees, mentors, and parents.

Actively track and participate in the implementation of private and public grants that support the delivery and expansion of College PAC to more students.

Coordinate logistics of the BBBS scholarship application and acceptance processes.

Case Management

Through scheduled in-person, phone, and/or electronic contact, provide case management support for a caseload of 40 to 60 freshman-senior college students, which will include fulfillment of scheduled contacts with mentees, mentors, and parents.

Track and support mentees' progress toward achieving key benchmarks along their individual college success "Road Map" plans and the college application process.

Track college admissions test scores and admissions requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree required . Master's Degree is a plus.

3-4 years of work experience in college access, college counseling, and/or college retention-oriented work with a focus on serving low-income, first-generation, and/or undocumented students.

General work and/or volunteer experience in the public education system or workforce/career development for underserved youth.

Experience in case management or customer service-oriented work requiring consistent contact with clients.

Demonstrated knowledge of higher education and support services for youth and college students.

Experience with student tracking systems (i.e. National Student Clearinghouse; Beyond 12; FOYOST; ISTS) a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and sometimes drive. Job requires verbal and computer communication.

Working Location:

Location is based on a percentage of where work time is spent. Indoors - 60% and Travel (local) - 40% - job requires moderate travel to outside meetings. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles operates on a hybrid model with 2+ days per week in one of our office locations (Northridge, Lakewood, Koreatown) and up to 3 days working remotely.
