With support from BBBSC's professional staff, mentees and mentors develop authentic relationships that help youth achieve success now (both in and out of school) and long into the future (post-secondary education and the workforce).

SITE BASED PROGRAM COORDINATOR (Pikes Peak Office):

The Program Specialist will lead one or more school-based peer to peer teen mentoring programs cohorts for the STARS (Students Teaching About Relationships and Success) program in Colorado Springs, including administrative preparation and paperwork for multiple sessions throughout the school year. In addition, this position will carry a caseload of one-to-one community matches that includes tailored support for youth ages 13 and above. This position will plan and facilitate group events on a quarterly basis as well as support monthly community match events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilitate one or more STARS program(s) as directed by specific BBBS and/or grant requirements. Lead two regularly scheduled classes each week for each STARS cohort.Work in close collaboration with the other STARS program coordinator in the PP office. To include planning, braining, sharing feedback, and covering classes when necessary.Recruit mentors at partner schools with the assistance of counselors and teachers. Some recruiting may also be done at universities/colleges.Ensure mentors meet all requirements to remain active in the STARS program.Meet regularly with mentors to provide support, additional training and to review lessons being taught to mentees.Ensure mentors and mentees develop a healthy mentoring relationship.Manage any mentor/mentee relationship conflicts in accordance with BBBSC policiesIn collaboration with the Fundraising department, initiate fundraising initiatives for mentors as needed.Purchase and organize all supplies needed for the program meetings while staying within allotted budget.Prepare all documentation, handouts, paperwork, and supplies for each program.Work to maintain sustainability of programs beyond grant funding.Participate in technical assistance conference calls or meetings provided by BBBSC as needed.Participate in back to school nights, parent education event, and school assemblies as needed.Recruit and chaperone the required number of students to both the BBBSC Mentor Life Summit (MLS) and STARS National Conference (SNC) as directed by grant requirements.Network with the community and schools in the service area for the purpose of ongoing support for BBBSC programs.Management of match development including engagement, training, matching, match support, and documentation. Providing individual match support and case management, including documentation.Proactively assisting match relationships through regular communication (phone, email, and in person)Identifying matches who need additional support and implementing strategies to improve mentoring relationships.Support monthly match events in collaboration with other Program team members, helping with logistics and activity content.Conduct match introductions of newly created mentoring matches, and participate in weekly meetings to create them.Support ongoing mentor/volunteer training after being matched.Track program participation, conduct surveys and evaluations.Utilize the program's internal data management tool, Matchforce (Salesforce) to track and optimize performance.Provide age-relevant match support to matches aged 13+Collaborate with the Pikes Peak Program Manager to further develop Big Futures programmingPlan and host quarterly career engagement workshops for youth 13+Develop and maintain partnerships with relevant community partners in the college access, career, and educational spheres.Connect matches with relevant resources.SUPERVISORY DUTIES

QUALIFICATIONS

The Program Specialist is a dynamic presenter, with strong oral and written communication skills, who can effectively engage, inspire, and support teens through implementing the STARS mentoring program and one to one match support. The PS must have well-developed interpersonal skills and excellent relationship building skills to not only engage youth in programming, but to network and rally community and stakeholder support for youth from all walks of life; must be resilient and able to navigate the challenges of working in an unpredictable school environment; must embody the highest standards of ethical behavior and workplace conduct, possessing a strong personal code of ethics, integrity, diversity, and trust.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree (or minimum experience of 3 years) in Education, Social Service, Counseling, Human Services, or a related fieldExperience working with youth from diverse backgrounds; demonstrated understanding of their diverse cultures, histories, and family dynamics.Resilience and perseverance when navigating the challenges of working in an unpredictable school environment.Must demonstrate effective, dynamic presentation, and leadership abilities.Adaptable and open to a changing work environment, created by grants starting and ending.Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, sound judgment, superior decision-making.Adept at organizing and planning workflow, programming, and related events.Team player, willing to collaborate and contribute for the good of the team.Proficient at collecting and entering program information into a database and meeting deadlines.Must have a growth mindset; willingness to learn and grow from changes and challenges and explore new methods of thinking.Proficient in Microsoft office and familiarity with social and professional media such as Facebook and LinkedInPREFERRED:

A minimum of 2 years of experience in working with youth as a program coordinator in a nonprofit setting (or related job experience)Classroom management training.Salesforce experienceTrauma Informed Care training.Fluent Bilingual (Full command of both Spanish and English)Experience working in a federally grant funded organizationCOMPENSATION
