Job Summary:
The Purchasing Lead has procurement responsibilities for multiple engineering projects and supports overall project efforts on an as-needed basis.
In this role, you will:Support engineers and technical leads in obtaining detailed quotes from specified vendors for specific mechanical, structural and electrical equipment.Generate purchase orders from the engineer-approved quotes that are obtained from vendors.Issue multiple purchase orders to vendors, along with critical supporting documentation, according to the project equipment needs.Negotiate pricing, and general purchase order terms (e.g., shipping, payment, etc.) to obtain the best cost for Salas O'Brien and the client.Expedite purchase orders to ensure schedules are met for Salas O'Brien Engineers, Inc. and the client; Utilize existing tracking tools provided by Salas O'Brien.Proactively contact vendors to determine if delivery schedules will be met, and raise issues to management, immediately, if delivery dates are known in advance to be in jeopardy.Provide feedback to project estimators regarding equipment pricing variances that occur from the time of bidding to project implementation (e.g., additional specifications defined, number of motors increased, estimates were too general, etc.).Provide feedback regarding the procurement process to ensure continuous improvement of the process.Drive and support the organization of project folders to develop consistency between projects.Organize the receipt, storage, and delivery of specified documents, outside of documents being generated by in-house engineers - ensure relevant project parties are informed of received documents.Provide QA/QC support/insight for projects to ensure standards are followed, and process consistency occurs throughout the project life cycle.Coordinate the creation of transmittal requests, with detailed direction from project leads.The procurement and engineering support responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the items listed above.Possess the knowledge to provide project support for the activities normally associated with an Engineering and Design office (e.g., proposals, budgeting, purchasing, transmittals, document receipt, and document storage).Be responsible to their supervisor, and project teams for work activities.Incumbent is accountable to Salas O'Brien Technical Managers, Project Managers, and Senior officers for the proper execution of their responsibilities in an honest and dependable manner.Qualifications and Requirements:
2 or 4-year college degree is preferred in business administration, marketing, technology, and/or communications or High school diploma required.4+ years' experience in a project management support role is very beneficial for this position.Microsoft Word and Excel skills required - Microsoft Power Point and Project skills strongly preferred.Skills/abilities:
Ability to generate detailed documents based on business and technical input.Ability to manage work/time effectively but does not hesitate to ask questions if they arise.
Location : Dublin, OH
Travel : 5 % Work may involve traveling to customer's facilities.
