Job Summary:
Salas O'Brien is looking to fill energy manager positions to support decarbonization and clean energy initiatives in large multifamily buildings. The energy managers will participate in a multi-year New York State initiative aimed at identifying and evaluating applicable energy and carbon reduction projects for affordable housing buildings. This initiative will encompass a strategic engagement to support implementation of clean energy projects. This position provides significant exposure to property managers and decision makers pursuing decarbonization and clean energy in multifamily buildings.
Job tasks include identification, cost-benefit analysis, and further development of energy efficiency, sustainability, and decarbonization initiatives to meet carbon reduction goals in multifamily buildings. This position will work with building representatives to develop long-term decarbonization plans to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets.
Job tasks include:
Initiate and develop energy management plan in conjunction with applicable stakeholdersDevelop and maintain an energy tracking and savings systemMaintain cross-functional energy team and hold regular meetingsIdentify a strategy for measurement and verification of energy initiativesConduct site surveys and reports that identify energy and carbon reduction opportunitiesReview operations and maintenance (O&M) schedule and procedures to identify operational savings opportunitiesIdentify, evaluate, and propose energy and carbon reduction projects, including financial analysesPrepare quarterly and annual reports that document resultsProvide regular updates including summary presentations to multi-agency stakeholdersRequired skills include:
Minimum of 3 years of energy engineering and/or auditing experience in multifamily buildingsIndustry certifications such as certified energy manager, certified energy auditor, or multifamily building energy analystUnderstanding of energy engineering principles and carbon reduction strategies in multifamily buildingsKnowledge of New York City Local Laws, including 84, 87, & 97Knowledge of building systems in multifamily buildings including one and two-pipe steam, cooling systems, and ventilation systemsFamiliarity with State and utility incentive programs to assist project and building owners identify funding opportunitiesProficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and WordHigh-level communication skills to prepare and present technical reports to board members, property managers, and building operators
