A distinguished law firm in Los Angeles, CA, seeks an experienced eDiscovery Counsel to lead and manage eDiscovery processes for complex litigations and investigations. This role involves close collaboration with clients, merits firms, and co-counsel, providing expert advice on eDiscovery, information governance, and other related legal issues. The successful candidate will be a proactive leader, capable of managing multiple high-stakes workstreams, mentoring junior team members, and identifying opportunities for growth and thought leadership within the legal sector.Duties

Provide in-depth legal analysis and solutions on eDiscovery and information governance issuesDraft and oversee legal work products, including legal memoranda, protective orders, ESI agreements, motions, and defensibility documentationPrepare outlines, talking points, and strategic documentation for client meetings, custodian interviews, meet-and-confer sessions, and hearingsCollaborate directly with clients and legal partners to manage workflows and project timelines effectivelyGuide and prepare expert witnesses, including matter management and preparation for testimonyLead client engagements with minimal oversight, ensuring timely and accurate work completionIdentify and pursue business development opportunities to drive firm growthMaintain precise time records and fulfill all time-entry requirementsPerform additional responsibilities as needed to support client success and firm objectivesRequirements

A minimum of 5 years of experience managing eDiscovery in a legal setting, preferably within a law firm environmentProficiency in legal research with a proven ability to draft complex discovery-related documents and governance materialsStrong client management skills with a track record of successful client interactions and project leadershipDemonstrated involvement in industry organizations with a proactive approach to thought leadership and innovationEducation

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law schoolCertifications

Admission to the Bar in one or more of the following jurisdictions: California, Illinois, Minnesota, Virginia, Washington, D.C.Skills

High-level expertise in eDiscovery, information governance, and data privacy legislationStrong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilitiesExceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbalAbility to thrive in fast-paced, high-energy environments, maintaining strong team spirit and cohesionAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and a strong technical aptitude for legal software and technology
