Occupational TherapistPosition Summary:Provides educationally necessary intervention in the area of motor skill development, focusing primarily on fine motor and sensorimotor development. Services are provided in a variety of school settings, ranging from preschool to high school.Essential Duties:Completes assessment of motor and sensorimotor skill development with a focus on educational functioningParticipates as part of a multidisciplinary team, which develops educational plans for students with disabilitiesProvides direct and consultative instructional services to students regarding motor and sensorimotor skill development to assure reasonable educational benefit in the least restrictive environment.Collaborates/consults with school staff, parents and outside agencies to assure issues regarding motor and sensorimotor skill development are appropriately addressed in the school setting.Prepares reports and appropriate documentation to assure accountability.Implements District, State, and Federal special education regulations as they relate to motor and sensorimotor skill development.Administer, evaluation/re-evaluation as part of the identification process to help in the determination of the need of Occupational Therapy as a related service.Participates in professional growth by attending meetings, in-services, and workshops related to the best practices of providing Occupational Therapy in the school setting.Supervises and evaluates Occupational Therapy Assistant(s).Develops and maintains appropriate Occupational Therapy records, i.e.; documentation, schedules, progress notes, IEP, monthly reports, etc.May travel to various schools in order to provide occupational therapy services in the district schools of students on caseload.Performs other duties as assigned.To ensure continuity of services, alternative work site may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee's eligibility for alternative work site will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for alternative work site will be distributed by the employee's supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.Job Specifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy requiredNational certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board requiredState certification/licensure as a special service provider in the area of Occupational Therapy requiredExperience working with disabled childrenKnowledge of appropriate assessment tools and techniques in the area of motor and sensorimotor skill developmentKnowledge and understanding of how motor and sensorimotor skill development impacts educational successAbility to develop and implement instructional plans relating to motor and sensorimotor development in the school settingAbility to communicate effectively with other professionalsAbility to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of studentsKnowledge of District, State and Federal special education regulations, standards, and benchmarks as they relate to service for motor and sensorimotor developmentWorking Conditions and Physical Requirements:The working conditions and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
