BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE

Under the direct supervision of a departmental Supervisor , ensures an orderly flow of parts and/or raw materials between departments to include pulling orders for departments on different shifts.The principal functions of this position are:1. Pulls orders from a pick list, for either manufacturing or the warehouse, accurately and timely and stage them appropriately.2. Communicate directly with department supervisors and buyers shortages concerning and quality problems.3. Receive parts or finished goods from external vendors and manufacturing , verify quantities and part numbers, and place in storage.

KNOW HOWThis position requires a high school education, or equivalent, a minimum of 2 years as a Material Handler I, or equivalent, and good skills or knowledge in the following areas:

1.The ability to drive several types of forktrucks and pickers.2. Knowledge of safe working practices.3. Perform basic PM on vehicles.4. Successful completion of forktruck driving test.5. Read blueprints and technical drawings6. Good oral communication skills

CHARACTER AND NATUREThe primary responsibility is to provide timely preparation and/or delivery of parts or raw material to the various manufacturing departments. Includes keeping records of shortages on a shortage report. Service parts orders for customers are also included and may require filling out UPS or similar paperwork.Finished goods from the manufacturing assembly areas may have to be unloaded using gas or electric forktrucks. The control and recording of steel scrap may be a requirement. Proper safety practices must be followed at all times.Incoming parts, chemicals and raw material may be unloaded from trucks using hand carts or forktrucks. Basic bills of lading may need to be checked and reviewed.A good understanding of parts lists and reading production schedules is also required.Responsible for daily cycle counting breakdown of parts in the staging area and delivery to the varies manufacturing departments.Good communication with supervisors and buyers is essential to ensure timely reporting of shortages and quality problems.The working conditions have no significant disagreeable elements other than some noise and heat. Team participation to enhance communications, flexibility, individual involvement, and productivity gains.The employee is responsible for learning, understanding, and complying with our basic quality system; and in particular, the specific quality system requirements for any operation the employee may perform.

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS

Manufacturing:• Works predominantly on the manufacturing floor. May be exposed to heat, electrical and mechanical hazards, noise, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, etc.• Climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing and ability to move material weighing up to 70 lbs• Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on tools and equipment• Ability to use of hand tools, power tools, gas torches and measuring instruments• Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and use measuring equipment• Requires standing for prolonged periods of time• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination• Must be able to walk and use hands• Ability to read, write, listen and speak
