The Acquisitions Intern works to evaluate, acquire or sell real estate assets for all three of Ashford's advised real estate investment platforms. The position will provide support to the senior management of BHR, AHT and TSGF as well as the members of the acquisitions team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct due diligence on potential real estate investmentsIncludes financial statement analysis, discount cash flow analysis, market research and value proposition analysisProduce internal and external investment memoranda and other ad hoc quantitative and qualitative reports in connection with potential investmentsManage investment pipeline and external correspondence with sell side and buy side contactsBusiness review of legal documentsPrior experience in M&A on the buy side evaluating historical financials and modeling projectionsSuperior Microsoft office skillsStrong time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlinesFocused and detail-oriented with the ability to work quickly and accuratelyStrong critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to interpret dataStrong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate concisely and effectivelyStrong people skills and the ability to collaborate in a team environment alongside senior managementDesire and ability to learn quickly and work independentlyExceptional academic record (3.7+ GPA) with a demonstrated track record of achievement
Education and Experience Qualifications
Current Junior pursuing a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (engineering, finance, economics, mathematics, etc.)Previous internship or project experience in financial analysis - real estate acquisitions (preferably lodging), real estate sales (preferably lodging) or investment banking experience preferredProficiency working with both Microsoft Excel-based models and creating Powerpoint presentations
