Job Description: Title: Coordinator for The Business Innovation Center (BIC) Unit: Non-Unit Professional (NUP) - NON-UNIT PROFESSIONALS PERSONNEL POLICIES HANDBOOK Department: The Center for Economic and Social Justice (CESJ) Reports To: Director of The Business Innovation Center (BIC) Date: December 2024 RCC was established through community activism by leaders frustrated with the lack of educational opportunities for Boston's black population and in response to efforts to build a highway through the heart of this historic neighborhood. Through data and countless community conversations over two years, RCC established the Center for Economic and Social Justice (CESJ) to organize RCC and community resources to spearhead solutions that will truly advance better economic and social outcomes. One of the CESJ initiatives intended to advance this effort is RCC's new Business Innovation Center (BIC). The BIC will primarily focus on supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs from Dorchester, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, Roslindale, Roxbury, and South End through community collaboration, innovation, and services. We're seeking an experienced Program Coordinator to oversee the daily activities of the BIC. The Program Coordinator assists the Director in facilitating the operation of the BIC by coordinating services and providing business development assistance to students, clients, partners, and stakeholders. This individual will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for our constituencies. The ideal candidate will have a sharp business mind and proven success in managing programs, partnerships, and related events. The Coordinator at the BIC will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations and maintenance of the facility. This position requires a hands-on approach to support various activities, primarily related to but not limited to event organization/scheduling and seamless organization of the BIC's activities and initiatives. They will work closely with the Director to maintain an efficient environment for students, members of the community, partners, and visitors. They will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for promoting entrepreneurship and innovation programs. The ideal candidate for the BIC Coordinator position must be adaptable to working morning and/or evening shifts, with weekend availability required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assists the Director of the BIC in coordinating the delivery of existing and new entrepreneurship and small business development programs and initiatives developed by the BIC or in conjunction with RCC, programmatic partners, stakeholders, or affiliates. Advances the operations of the BIC by developing and maintaining effective marketing communications, with special emphasis on digital marketing. Provides administrative support for scheduling, organizing meetings and events, administering/collecting surveys, recruiting participants, reviewing applications and maintaining program and pilot documentation/report. Assists in identifying/engaging potential programmatic partners for the BIC. Assists in developing and maintaining strong customer service relationships with new and existing clients, community and stakeholder groups, those inquiring about services, and partner organizations. Informs students, small business owners, managers, and partner referral sources about educational resources and engagement opportunities available to them by marketing seminars, courses, and events. Participate in candidate identification/selection for BIC cohort programs. Perform duties as event manager (or supervisor) for all assigned events. Assists with the overall operations of the BIC and daily facility operations. Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and the development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed. Contributes to the overall success of the BIC by performing all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: Education: A bachelor's degree in business, communication, or a related field is required. Experience:

At least two years of experience working for a business development organization, educational institution, or working in marketing is required. Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, knowledge of business management principles, and computer literacy are required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. Other:

The scope of the position requires evening and occasional weekend work.
