March 2024(Re-Opened April 16, 2024) Roxbury Community College Department of Nursing invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position. Primarily responsible for instructional preparation and teaching of nursing courses offered at the associate degree nursing level in the classroom, clinical and laboratory settings. The faculty member is responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy and framework of the Department and in accordance with the Massachusetts Board of Nursing Registration and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

The faculty member participates in the review and evaluation of nursing courses and in the evaluation of student performance. The faculty memberparticipates in departmental, division and college- related committees and activities.

Each faculty member is responsible for maintaining current R.N. licensure and expertise in nursing and teaching specialty

. Essential functions: Develops instructional material consistent with course objectives. Collaborates with faculty colleagues to develop, support and implement the philosophy, conceptual framework, objectives and policies of the Department. Actively participates in curriculum development, course refinement and program evaluation. Actively participates in departmental committees. Accepts responsibility of delegated assignments. Demonstrates effective working relationships with individuals and groups. Keeps educational records as required. Effectively teaches in the classroom, lab and clinical area in the areas of Maternal Child Health. Demonstrates computer skills for patient care and for educational and office requirements. Uses strong organizational skills to manage and teach in the classroom, nursing skills lab and the clinical setting. Prepares for class, lab and clinical according to the needs of the program. This may include preparing clinical assignments at the clinical facility one-day in advance and communicating this information to students. Coordinate courses including lab and clinical components. Work with adjunct faculty to ensure the best learning experiences for students. Utilize a variety of appropriate teaching strategies to promote students' critical thinking skills. Use simulations and computer technologies in the classroom and lab. Comply with the duties as stipulated in the Massachusetts Community College Council Collective Bargaining Agreement. Teaches in both the day and evening option as assigned. Curriculum Responsibilities

: Demonstrate ability to plan, organize, implement and evaluate instructional materials in assigned areas of classroom, nursing laboratory and clinical teaching. Assesses classroom, nursing laboratory and/or clinical student performance using outcomes based criteria. Utilizes a variety of appropriate teaching strategies including technology to correlate and enhance classroom and clinical teaching. Identifies the learning needs of individual students and seek experiences to meet these needs. Evaluates student's progress against established criteria. Assists students in their own self-evaluation. Participates in evaluation of the nursing program. Maintains expertise in area of teaching responsibility. Non Instructional Workload

: Acts as advisor to nursing students and potential nursing students. Serves on departmental, division and college governance committees. Participates in professional development, as stipulated by the MCCC contract, or as necessary for personal and professional growth. Provides support and assistance for students having difficulty in achieving course objectives. Serves as professional role model to students. Participates in evaluation of peers, coordinators and administrators. Participates in student recruitment activities. Maintains office hours according to MCCC contract. Participates in Accreditation activities.

Job Requirements: Requires a Master of Science in Nursing Current experience in nursing required. A minimum of 5 years of nursing experience is required. Experience teaching at a school of nursing preferred. Experience with clinical simulation preferred. Demonstrated curriculum development and classroom teaching skills preferred. Demonstrated computer skills for patient care and for educational and office requirements. Strong written and oral communication skills Proven dedication to student learning and academic support Medical/Surgical teaching experience preferred Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population Current MA licensure; clean CORI; updated health clearance and malpractice insurance.

Additional Information: Starting date: Spring

2024 Compensation: Column H, Competitive Factor$68,192.00 - $75,317.00

Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate with Education & Experience in Accordance with

the

MCCC/MTACollective Bargaining Agreement.
