Job Description
Responsible for the installation, creation, monitoring, maintenance and optimization of databases. Ensure secure database access, data integrity and security, as well as manage performance and capacity. Direct complex database designs, direct and review all phases of database projects, and develop data security protocols with Security teams. Create complex database backups to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery. Maintain key relationships with database vendors and outside experts, participate in roundtables and industry conferences, and understand project database and design requirements to ensure quality of technical design, development and testing by outsourced suppliers. Manage delivery of database services to project contract (Statement of Work), ensuring that cost, quality, and delivery requirements are met or exceeded. Coordinate efforts between development, support groups and suppliers for project delivery (single ownership). Understand complex technical designs and standards in database development and implementation. Champion the use of Six Sigma to reduce costs and improve processes, and lead functions excellence database administration standards. Act as an expert in multiple types of databases and their applications. Lead standards implementation and support training for new database administrators. Engage in reviews and validations of Solution Data Designs. Drive Reusability components across the database groups to reduce implementation time/cost and work towards common processes and systems. Recommend database designs and implementation to inter-disciplinary team that enhance data integrity and security. Work with Production Support Team to support the transition of Data Base Administration work from project to support. Direct outsourced suppliers to meet delivery dates. Ensure that the solutions delivered are in compliance with audit requirements. Lead troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve customer-identified issues by utilizing appropriate department standards to satisfy customer expectations. Configure, create and test a solution for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications using industry standards and tools, version control, and build and test automation to meet business, technical, security, governance and compliance requirements. Control the life cycle of all system changes using the requirements processes and tools enabling beneficial changes to be made with minimum disruption to IT services as part of System Change Management. Execute ongoing activities and procedures required to manage and maintain IT services to deliver agrees service levels as part of IT Operational Support. Maintain reported issues or requests assigned via the Incident Management system to log actions taken and track trends.

Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, Information Technology or Systems, or related field and 6 years of experience as a Database Administrator, IT Analyst or Consultant, Data Scientist, or related position.
