This position is accountable for managing the overall operations of a defined patient care unit during an assigned shift. The incumbent is accountable for monitoring, evaluation, and directing patient care provided by staff, coordinating activities of the patient care unit, making staff assignments and assisting with the development and evaluation of staff members. The incumbent will assist with the recruitment and hiring of staff, evaluating staff competency and evaluating, coaching, and counseling assigned staff in concert with the Manager/Supervisor. This position practices within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Children's policies.

About Us:The Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation unit specializes in long-term rehabilitation care and is one of only two California pediatric CARF-accredited facilities. We cater to a wide range of conditions, including traumatic brain injuries, multiple traumas, trach/vent patients, spinal cord injuries, stroke, orthopedic conditions, Guillan-Barre, and other neurologic disorders. Additionally, we offer specialized care for medical patients admitted to the hospital, leveraging our team's exceptional expertise in an interdisciplinary setting. Our large playroom features two TVs for family entertainment and wall of cabinets filled with toys for patients. We also have a spacious kitchen area equipped with 2 ovens and an industrial-sized fridge and /freezer for families to use during their extended stay, ensuring their child is fully prepared for a smooth transition back home. Our commitment to patient success is evident in our focus on providing specialized education to empower patients to care for themselves before they return home. To ensure we maintain high standards, we utilize a national database to track patient outcomes, with Valley Children's Rehab patients showing some of the best results in the country, particularly in achieving greater independence after our care.

EXPERIENCE:
