About this role
The primary role of this position is to provide engineering Product support for the Commercial Chiller products manufactured in the Carrier Charlotte, NC facility. This role will provide ongoing support for these products, to include design change requests from Production, Quality, Warranty, Marketing/Sales and Product Safety departments. A successful sustaining engineer must have strong communication and leadership skills and be able to interact with other product Engineering members as well as Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, production technicians.
The primary responsibility of this position is to integrate chiller and motor control hardware into the chiller system. In this capacity, the engineer will be primarily responsible to develop solutions that best meet the chiller product requirements by working with product management to define needs and supply chain to identify best suppliers.
The preferred candidate will have a strong understanding of chiller and motor control systems and related component layout and packaging.
Key Responsibilities:Electrical engineering for control and power panel integration into chiller products. Experience in the design and/or integration of variable frequency power electronics is preferredAbility to size and select applicable electrical components and wiring to operate motors, valves, etc.Ability to create, edit and read electrical power and control schematicsAbility to create and modify I/O mapping of electronic controlsCollaborate with product management, software, chiller systems, and compression engineering to define controls and motor controller requirementsWork with the supply chain to identify suppliers to produce our control and motor control solutions.Provide oversight of our control and motor control productsEnsure code compliance is maintainedPerforms engineering duties including manufacturing planning and the installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical apparatus to ensure that projects are completed on-time and as per the defined goalsDetermines material and equipment needs and orders supplies to ensure sufficient resources for project completionDevelops or performs operational, maintenance, or testing procedures for electronic products, components, equipment, or systems to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of engineering processesManage activities for the manufacture, construction, installation, maintenance, operation, or modification of electronic equipment, products, or systems to ensure smooth operationsPrepares, reviews or maintains maintenance schedules, design documentation, or operational reports and charts to ensure that progress and performance can be trackedLess than 10%, InternationalRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree2+ years of experience in HVAC or Electrical EngineeringPreferred Qualification:
Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
MS in Electrical Engineering (preferred not required)Control panel design, work with voltages from 200-600vProject leadership experience preferredHVAC industry experience preferredStrong communication skills, primarily in EnglishLeadership and teamwork skills
