The Business Operations Unit exists to serve as CPW’s business professional liaison with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) for all CPW projects and services that have a technology component. This unit provides services to plan and manage the business operations side for all technology projects; provides representation and advocacy of CPW’s business needs and goals; coordinates with CPW staff and OIT staff in the management of the agency technology applications, infrastructure, support contracts, business data analysis; assists with, and maintains CPW technical budgets, provides statewide field communications, coordination and support. These services are essential to CPW’s mission in managing Colorado’s wildlife and outdoor recreation resources now and in the future.

Description of Job

The Technician III will assist the Statewide Business Operations Coordinators in their daily duties. In addition, the position will be an agency liaison (Colorado Parks and Wildlife) to OIT (Office of Information Technology) and third party vendors.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Field Communications and Kiosk Support

Field Communications and Kiosk Support - Statewide site surveys to inspect, inventory and document technology infrastructure including upgrades, new installations, network closets, remodels, additions and new construction, meet with State Park Managers, Area Managers and Office Managers to document their IT needs and requests. Vendor management for CPW State properties including hatcheries and State Wildlife Areas.

Statewide kiosk support including troubleshooting, replacing parts and paper, assisting vendors with upgrades, replacements and new installs

Video Conferencing and Zoom support

Support video conferencing for CPW. Configure, deploy and troubleshoot Zoom Rooms. Train CPW staff how to use video conferencing equipment, provide support for the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission hybrid meetings, configure and deploy digital signage, Zoom administration, maintain Zoom features, and updates, Zoom room and user licensing, maintain conferencing interoperability with Google and Microsoft Teams, DTEN Orbit administration, work with vendors designing new Audio Visual (AV) rooms.

Business Operations, Research and Testing

Research new technology solutions for CPW business needs including new video conference solutions, demo new technology business products and tools including to provide accessibility options such as captioning, hearing assistance and language translation. Work with OIT to test new tools and roll out new solutions for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Phones, PC’s and Peripherals

Working with OIT and the Business Operations office administrators request quotes, place orders, inventory and allocate phones/computers/peripherals for deployment to CPW locations statewide. This includes maintaining CPW’s 4 year pc replacement cycle.

Backup for Business Operations Administrator

Adobe VIP license allocation, SARA/OneCard administration, CARS program and Fleet administration Expense Tracking, maintain and report CPW Asset Inventory, follow State surplus to properly recycle and process retired and out of warranty computer equipment.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of relevant experience with computer/network technology or an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

OR

A combination of related education (Computer Science, Applied Computing, Computer Engineering) and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to three (3) years.

Substitutions

Appropriate education in Computer Science will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Current or former State experience relevant to this position

Current or former Colorado Parks & Wildlife work or volunteer experience

High level of written and oral communications

Previous experience working in State or local government

Experience in providing excellent customer service.

Conditions of Employment

State of Colorado residency is required at the time of application.

Must possess and maintain a valid state of Colorado driver's license if operating a State vehicle.

Travel required, including supporting CPW Commission meetings, kiosk support with vendors, statewide surveys, inspections, inventory and installations required.
