The Oracle Clusterware team focuses on research, design, and development of software infrastructure that powers Oracle Database (RAC) and other applications to achieve high availability and scalability across hundreds of nodes. Oracle Clusterware infrastructure ensures 99.99% availability for RAC and custom applications, supporting mission-critical use cases worldwide.

We are seeking a skilled, curious, and self-motivated Senior Software Engineer with expertise in system design and implementation with proficiency in C/C++ development, Java, data structures and algorithms, operating systems, and strong debugging and troubleshooting abilities. The ideal candidate will have experience with highly available and scalable distributed systems, multi-threaded applications, network protocols, and socket programming. They should be able to design CPU and memory-optimized server architectures capable of handling thousands of concurrent connections and enabling rapid data transfer.
In this role, you’ll be instrumental in developing high-performance, reliable software solutions, working independently on complex projects from design to deployment.

Responsibilities
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Design, implement, and optimize C/C++ applications with a focus on scalability, efficiency, and maintainability. Write, test, and maintain code for low latency & high throughput servers for distributed system capable of handling high volumes of concurrent connections and data. Participate in design discussions and code reviews to provide quality solutions.
Proficient in using debugging techniques to troubleshoot complex software issues.
Required Qualifications:
BS/MS in Computer Science or related field.
12-15 years of experience of software development.
Proficient in C/C++ programming, Java and scripting languages.
Strong fundamentals such as data structures, excellent understanding of OS concepts like memory management, multi threading, IO subsystem, networking, and process scheduling.
Hands-on experience with debugging techniques using traces and core dumps, and tools like gdb, tcpdump/wrireshark, strace, pstack, valgrind, etc.
Ability to design and implement high-performance, CPU and memory optimized scalable server solutions.
Excellent trouble shooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with designing servers for distributed system which are always on, self-recover or self-heal in case of problem to avoid downtime and can scale up and scale down dynamically based on demand.
Familiarity and ability to build AI/ML models and apply them to improve diagnosability and troubleshooting as well as prediction and self-correction.
Understanding of security best practices for distributed applications.
Familiarity with Go, gRPC
Experience in building cloud services
Soft Skills:
Self-motivated, goal driven with the ability to work independently on complex projects.
Ability to lead team members of all experience levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $150,200 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
