We are seeking a seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate to join our Matrimonial and Family Law Department. Our department handles sensitive and complex cases involving divorce, child custody, support, and related matters for a diverse clientele. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to navigate these challenging cases with professionalism and empathy. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with a dedicated team of professionals in a supportive and collaborative environment.Key Responsibilities:Case Management:
Independently manage a caseload of matrimonial and family law matters, including divorce, custody, support, equitable distribution, prenuptial agreements, and post-judgment modifications.Client Representation:
Represent clients in court, mediation, and arbitration, providing zealous advocacy and strategic legal counsel to achieve favorable outcomes.Legal Drafting:
Draft, review, and revise legal documents such as motions, pleadings, settlement agreements, and parenting plans, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client objectives.Negotiation:
Engage in negotiations with opposing counsel to resolve disputes amicably, while protecting clients' best interests.Client Communication:
Maintain regular and effective communication with clients, keeping them informed of case developments and advising on legal strategies.Trial Preparation:
Prepare cases for trial, including conducting discovery, preparing witnesses, and developing trial strategies.Collaboration:
Work closely with partners, associates, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.Continuing Education:
Stay current with developments in matrimonial and family law, including attending relevant CLE courses and industry seminars.Qualifications:Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing.Minimum of 5-7 years of experience practicing matrimonial and family law in New York State.Extensive litigation experience with a strong track record of successfully managing complex matrimonial and family law cases.Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and emotionally charged situations with professionalism and empathy.Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Commitment to providing high-quality legal representation and maintaining the highest ethical standards.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with complex financial issues.Familiarity with mediation and collaborative law practices.Background in handling cases involving domestic violence and orders of protection.Benefits:401(k)Dental insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offProfessional development assistanceReferral programVision insurance
