Job Summary:
The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all safety protocols and programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees on construction sites. This role involves continuous monitoring of safety practices, conducting safety training, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards
Supervises:
1-2 Safety RepresentativesSupervisory Responsibilities:
Monitor the performance of safety personnel and provide regular feedback.Conduct performance appraisals and identify areas for improvement and professional development.Make time card adjustments.Manage and approve time off requests, and track and address any attendance issues.Key Role Responsibilities:
Safety Program Development and Implementation
Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.Create and update safety manuals, guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis
Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards.Perform risk assessments and develop hazard mitigation plans.Implement corrective actions to address identified hazards.Training and Education
Design and conduct safety training programs for all employees, including new hire orientation and ongoing safety education.Ensure all employees are aware of safety protocols and emergency procedures.Ensure that all staff are adequately trained in safety procedures, emergency response, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Regulatory Compliance
Stay updated with the latest safety regulations and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant standards.Prepare and submit necessary reports and documentation to regulatory agencies.Incident Investigation and Reporting
Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes.Prepare detailed reports on incidents and recommend preventive measures.Maintain records of safety-related incidents and track trends.Safety Equipment and PPE
Ensure availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.Regularly inspect and maintain safety equipment to ensure functionality.Emergency Preparedness and Response
Develop and implement emergency response plans.Coordinate and conduct emergency drills and exercises.Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with project managers, site superintendents, and employees to promote a culture of safety.Communicate safety expectations and updates to all stakeholders.Attend and participate in project meetings to provide safety input.Other Role Responsibilities:
Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety regulations.Ability to conduct thorough investigations and write detailed reports.Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).Proficiency in Google Suites.Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, and prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.Knowledge of office equipment, like printers and scanners.Ability to learn company specific software.Education & Experience:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in construction safety management.Certifications & Professional Affiliations:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred but not requiredOSHA 500 and 501 preferred but not requiredCertified Trainer for CPR and First Aid preferredPhysical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, such as safety equipment and suppliesPhysical stamina to stand and walk for long periods throughout the day.Working Environment:
Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to support employees.Primarily works on construction sites, exposed to varying weather conditions and site hazards.May require travel between multiple construction sites.Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.Professional fast paced environment.
