Your role will provide technical and policy support to the Great Lakes Program (GLP) concerning water quality, usage, and a range of environmental and climate initiatives. You will play a key role in fostering collaboration among different agencies and states on common challenges related to water and coastal resources!DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, your primary responsibility will be to provide technical and policy programmatic support to the Great Lakes Program (GLP) regarding water quality, water usage, and various environmental and climate-related initiatives at binational, interstate, state, and local levels within the Great Lakes Basin. This will involve engaging actively in committees and working groups linked to governmental and non-governmental organizations in the region, planning efforts that bolster Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) programs, collaborating with other DEP initiatives and regional offices, and ensuring coherence with other Pennsylvania state agencies.The GLP is tasked with coordinating and implementing the Commonwealth's strategies related to water quality and watershed management, which encompass commitments under the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement and the Great Lakes St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact. Additionally, the GLP facilitates access to federal funding opportunities, such as the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. You will report to the special projects section of Interstate Water Resource Management and will engage in a variety of high-level tasks to support the GLP. This position is funded by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and emphasizes expertise in environmental water policy and program support for the Pennsylvania Great Lakes Basin and associated initiatives.Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position requires travel as necessary. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Erie. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of professional environmental protection experience; and a bachelor's degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of professional environmental protection experience.
