Duration: 1 Year

The Senior Database Developer participates in the technical aspects of the software development life cycle for Maryland State Retirement System (MSRP) suite of custom and 3rd party applications. The Senior Database Developer is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of SQL driven applications, integrations and scripts. This position works closely with other software developers, database administrators, and business analysts to ensure assigned deliverables are accurate and on time. This role is responsible for efficiently organizing, managing, and completing their assigned tasks to produce specified deliverables. Duties/Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following:
1. Writing and testing code for software programs and applications using various programming languages in T- SQL, etc.
2. Analyzing user requirements and designing software solutions to meet those needs.
3. Collaborating with cross-functional teams including designers, analysts, and project managers throughout the software development life cycle.
4. Debugging existing code and fixing issues or bugs in software programs.
5. Maintaining and updating existing software systems by adding new features or enhancing functionality.
6. Creating technical documentation for reference and reporting.
7. Conducting software testing (unit testing, integration testing, system testing) to identify defects and ensure software quality.
8. Deploying software tools, processes, and metrics for monitoring code quality and improving software performance.
9. Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies, programming tools, and coding practices.
10. Participating in code reviews and providing feedback to other developers.
11. Follow all guidance on software development at the agency and state level.
Education
1. High school, GED or equivalent required.
2. Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Required Experience and Skills
1. Minimum 6 years of experience as a database developer working with MSSQL is required.
2. Minimum 6 years of experience with T-SQL.
3. Minimum 6 years of experience with Data Markup Language (DML).
4. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
5. Strong analytical.
Preferred Experience and Skills
1. 2 years of experience working with public defined benefit pension systems. Additional years of industry- specific experience will be given additional weight in considering and comparing the Master Contractors' proposals.
2. Experience with Entity Framework, Entity Framework Core or other OR
