About the work environment:

Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times.

We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto office. Successful candidates who reside in a location that is within a commutable distance (or who are willing to relocate) are strongly preferred.

You are experienced in building modern trust and deposits solutions, overseeing the integration with APIs and interfaces, ensuring the capabilities exist that enable operational effectiveness in both client-facing and back-office environments, and measuring up to cutting-edge developments in your industry.

About the qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience working in deposits or product management for a trust company and/or directly with trust deposit arrangements or such product constructs.
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams in a professional setting.
  • Master's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field. Alternatively, a background in software engineering with the prerequisite business or operational experience
  • Proficiency in Agile and Scrum methodologies. Product Owner Certification (e.g. Certified Scrum), or similar, a definite asset.
  • Strong experience with strategic planning and business casing, roadmap design, prioritized execution, and cross-functional collaboration, ideally with P&L accountability.
  • Motivated, driven, self-starter. Ability to work independently with low level of supervision and the ability to determine when to escalate decisions to management.
  • Demonstrated operational excellence in a dynamic environment with occasionally shifting priorities, while managing project delivery, costs, and financial performance.
  • Familiarity with the requirements under the Trust and Loans Companies Act and the CDIC Act preferred.


About the day-to-day:

  • Manage two business lines with significant growth potential (trust deposit products and depositor insurance coverage as a service), including product vision, strategic roadmap, pricing, P&L statement, and delivery priorities
  • Manage, motivate and develop direct reports through ongoing performance development
  • Manage a matrix delivery squad structure and ensure effective execution against business priorities (including sound, well-articulated requirements and strategic backlog management) within biweekly sprint cycles
  • Design new products, scale core capabilities, and build repeatable processes
  • Proactively manage risks, adherence to internal policies, demonstration of regulatory compliance, regulatory updates and inquiries (including those of the CDIC, which may cut across multiple business lines)
  • Provide regular updates and comprehensive reports to senior leadership on the strategic direction, roadmap progress, team performance and business results
  • Prioritize the products, services and capabilities are most important to have in place to ensure competitiveness in the market over various time horizons, based on a keen awareness of industry and regulatory changes
  • Monitor and manage the top line and bottom line of your business to maximize profit to the organization, including maintaining an effective relationship with Treasury and Finance to ensure responsible management of the balance sheet and enhance your ability to operate.


Compensation:

Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity, and highly competitive benefits. Salary for this position will vary between $140,000.00 and $155,000.00 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.
