In this role as the Plant Manager at one of our Alaska seafood processing facilities, you are responsible for overseeing the overall operations of a processing plant, ensuring efficient production, maintaining quality standards, and complying with regulatory requirements. You will manage a team of supervisors and employees, coordinate production schedules, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of plant facilities and equipment. As the Plant Manager, you will play a crucial role in the success of processing plants and the production of high-quality products.Essential Functions/Qualifications The responsibilities of the position include the following: Active leadership and participation in setting production and quality standards and takes action to ensure standards are met or exceeded.Establish plant priorities and objectives consistent with Silver Bay Seafoods business and production needs.Coordinate capital plans to meet plant and corporate needs. Participate in setting facility budgets and manage the facility to ensure budget expectations are achieved or exceeded. Manage the facility to assure positive employee relations and meet all safety and environmental standards. Ensure that plant key productivity indicators are measured, and the results communicated through the facility and to SBS corporate. Direct the activities of plant staff to ensure that productivity and cost effectiveness objectives/goals are met or exceeded. Responsible for maintaining good relationships with the local government. Develop an organization that will identify and provide training for high potential employees and supervisors. Responsible for ensuring that all applicable safety rules and regulations, including the Safety and Risk Management policies, PSM, OSHA and AKOSH regulations are adhered to. Responsible for ensuring that all quality, HAACP, GMP, and sanitation regulations and policies are adhered to. Address and handle personnel matters with confidentiality, sensitivity and in accordance with company and legal guidelines.Responsible for ensuring that direct reports provide meaningful opportunities for personnel and professional development and career enhancement. Management, Engineering or Technical degree preferred along with 10+ years of experience in food manufacturing management in positions of progressive responsibility Several years of experience working in a manufacturing or processing plant.Experience managing a team of employees and overseeing plant operations is preferred.Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, safety standards, and quality control procedures is crucial.Experience with production planning, scheduling, and inventory management is beneficial.Work Environment and SchedulePosition requires onsite presence at our Alaska Processing Facility, and the ability to travel, spending a significant amount of time during the season at our various locations and processing facilities in Alaska. Physical DemandsAs the Plant Manager's role is primarily office-based, it can involve physical demands. This includes spending time on the plant floor, which may require standing for extended periods, walking, occasional lifting, bending, and kneeling. Additionally, working in a processing plant, especially in colder climates, can expose the Plant Manager to cold temperatures.Mental ActivitiesThe employee is frequently required to set an example by consistently modeling ambitious standards of honesty and integrity.
